How to play Texas Holdem
It may sound complicated but learning how to play Texas hold em is easier than it sounds. Between two and 10 people can take part and one player acts as the dealer (or the button). The two players on the left of the dealer are known as the small blind and the big blind and they are the only two players to put cash in the pot before the cards are dealt.
Each player receives two face down cards, which are referred to in Texas hold em, or online Texas hold em rules, as “hole” cards. The initial betting round then starts with the player sitting to the left of the big blind. This player has the choice of folding, calling (matching the big blind’s amount) or raising.
The betting then proceeds in a clockwise direction with each player having the choice to fold, call the amount of the highest bet before them or raise. When the first betting round ends, three community cards are placed face up on the table. This part of Texas hold em is called the flop. The second betting round then begins in the same way as the first. Every player can check (if no bet in front of them), bet (or raise if a bet is before them), call or fold. When the second round of betting is completed, a fourth community card is flipped face up. This is known as the turn.

The third betting round then starts and when completed a fifth community card is placed face up. This is known as the river. The fourth round of betting then takes place and the betting continues to move clockwise. Once the river betting round has been completed, the players now enter the showdown. At this point, the best hand wins the pot.
